What is Emotion?
Emotion is one type of effect of stimulus, other types being
mood, temperament and sensation. Emotions can be comprehended as either states
or as processes. When understood as a state, an emotion is a type of mental
state that interacts with other mental states and causes certain behaviors. Emotions
are the part of the state of the mind. Basically, emotions are the body’s
reaction to external or internal events. They are based on the interpretation
of these events, and not on the event itself.

Emotion plays an important role in human life. Emotion is a mental
reaction whose expression or outcome is immediately seen.
Nature of Emotion:-
Nature of Emotion are discussed below –
I. It is a conscious and subjective mental reaction
towards a particular event and is usually accompanied by changes in the
physiological and behavioral aspects.
II. Emotion is a subjective experience.
III. Emotions are needed for adaptation and survival,
they influence a person on how he perceives the world.
IV. Most distracting emotions are connected to being
uninformed or misinformed.
What are the Features of Emotions?
The features of the emotion are discussed below –
a) Emotion has a wide range.
b) When an individual experiences an emotion, it
has a reference to a particular object and not to a general situation.
c) Emotions have two resources. They are Direct
perception and indirect or ideas.
d) Emotions are closely related with the working of
biological needs.
e) Emotions are always accompanied by some internal
changes which are known only to the individual who has experienced the
emotions.
f) Emotions also bring about certain external
changes which can be seen by others in the form of facial expressions or by behavioral
pattern.

b) Changes in Behaviour and Emotional Expressions.
c) Emotional feelings.
