President of India – List of Presidents of India (1950 to 2020):
President of India is referred as the first citizen of India. The President of India is the head of state of India and He is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces. President of India is elected by an electoral body composed of the elected members of the Parliament, Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and Vidhan Sabha.
According to the Article 56, Part V, of the Constitution of India, Presidents may remain in his office for tenure of 5 years. Within the case where a president's term of office is terminated early or during the absence of the president, the Vice President can assume the office.
There are 14 personalities who served as Indian Presidents since the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1950 and there are tenures when the country was headed by an acting President. In this article, you will get to understand about all the Presidents of India from 1950 to 2020.
Presidents of India: Eligibility
According to the Constitution of India, Article 58 states a few conditions for a candidate to be eligible for the election of the President of India. Some of the following conditions have given below:
a) The President of India should be a citizen of India.
b) The President of India must be above the age of 35 years.
c) The President of India should be qualified for election as member of the Lok Sabha.
d) The President of India should not hold any office of profit under the State Government, Union, and other local authorities.
List of Presidents of India (1950-2020):-
The Constitution of India was adopted on January 26, 1950. On same day i.e. on 26 January, 1950, Dr Rajendra Prasad was elected as the first constitutional head of the state, the President of India.

Pranab Mukherjee was the 13th President of India and he completed his term in July 2017. Though he was eligible, but he did not contest for re-election. As a result, on July 25th, 2017, Ram Nath Kovind became the 14th President of India and he was appointed by the electoral body.
